This Alarming Anonymous Letter Put Cruise Robotaxis Under Investigation

In a strange change of events, General Motors’s cruise ships were reported to have been under the rules scanning after an anonymous letter from an alleged employee, claiming that his robotaxis was rushed to placement. According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, the letter mentioned concerns among shipping employees “about the readiness of self-driving car company technology for commercial spread.”

The letter, which was claimed by the Wall Street Journal, claimed that the Self-Driving Cruise taxi fleet also regularly stopped at the intersection and eventually blocking the way. Earlier this month, Wired also wrote broadly about the incident where the Chevrolet bolt car that was driven by himself was carried out by Cruise unexpectedly still stopped even after the signal became green.

According to internal communication seen by Wired, the fleet of around 60 robotaksis cruise was left to be deactivated after losing a touch with the server on June 28, following other similar incidents that occurred in May this year. Interestingly, anonymous letters were also sent to the California regulatory agency in May. In particular, Cruise received permission to launch a paid robotaxi service in San Francisco a month later in June.

The anonymous letter reportedly added that the shipping car suddenly stranded individually, or en masse, was a regular incident and that the emergency recovery system to get out of such situations was also vulnerable to failure. “Our safety records were tracked, reported, and issued by several government agencies,” said the shipping spokesman as quoted as a response to the charges made in the letter.

At this time point, it is unclear whether the California public utility commission has launched a formal investigation of this problem, but it has the authority to revoke licenses and cancel permits if he finds systemic deviations and safety violations. Interestingly, a post that was distributed two weeks ago on the Sub-Drivecars Sub-Reddit was allegedly written by the person who sent the letter to the CPUC. The post claims that the letter detailed the “vehicle taking” for cruise cars that have clear problems.

Coming to the Robotaxis incident that prevented traffic for hours, Cruise said in the past that he recovered it with a mixture of manual taking and long distance assistance, according to Wall Street Journal. In April, Cruise was involved in another incident published when one of the self-driving cars was pulled by a police officer. Slashgear has not been able to verify whether the letter and Reddit Post, whose author has not yet verified their work status by quoting Doxxing’s concerns, is valid.
