Pixel 6a Teardown Reveals A Big Feature That Didn’t Make The Cut

Pre-order for the leading class of Google’s middle class finally arrived, but it will not begin to be sent to the enthusiastic buyers until July 28. Of course, some units have made their way to a number of users, including reviewers, experts, and even repair technicians. While most people might want to hear about how Pixel 6A’s performance, others might be more curious about how the phone will really survive the usual accidents. More importantly, these people also want to know how difficult or expensive to repair damaged 6A pixels. Teardown video tries to answer the last questions, but they also tend to reveal hidden or canceled features, as in the case of Google Pixel 6A.

Continuing the tradition of launching A-Series phones, Google revealed Pixel 6A last month as a more easily accessible version of its Pixel 6 mainstay. Both have the same design DNA, wearing typical protectors near the top. They also run the same Google Tensor processor, but others began to be different from there. Of course there are differences in the material used to build Pixel 6A. PBKRreviews revealed that the Pixel 6A rear plate is made of a very bent piece of plastic, at least when separated from the rest of the frame. Although not premium like glass, the material is at least tougher to fall and scratch. However, that is not the end of other interesting discoveries.

It seems that a large 6A nixed pixel feature

The strangest detail expressed by the tear is a large cutout in the middle of the Pixel 6A frame. This piece is the right measure for the wireless charging coil, but it is not on the phone. It is very possible that Google decided at the last minute to delete wireless charging support but was too late to change the design. This is really embarrassing, considering how Pixel 6A has almost all parts needed to support that feature except for the missing coil.

Teardown gave Pixel 6A ranked 7 out of 10 in terms of improvement. It’s easy enough to open the phone without damaging anything in the process thanks to the reinforcement clip that holds the screen and plastic back that will not cracked with pressure. Even the battery is easily deleted using a pull tab, an increase marked above the Pixel 6 Pro battery which is very fixated. Most parts are modular and standard, which means they can be replaced easily, but there are also some Gotcha that prevents it from getting a higher score.

The USB-C port, for example, soldered to the motherboard, which means it is not easy to fix or replace it. Considering it is one part that is tired faster than the others, it is a real downer. The fingerprint scanner that is being played is also strictly fixed on the screen, but fortunately, it is not one that is easily damaged. Overall, this is a significant step in terms of improvement, but may be a limited nature of Google’s cheaper handset.
